LICENSING: A very important issue for you the consumer...Keep in mind any contractor performing a
job in which the total cost of the project is more than $300, the contractor MUST be licensed by
the Contractors State License Board (CSLB). Licensed contractors are subject to laws designed to protect
the consumer! Unlicensed contractors may give you a low bid while also giving you the risks of
financial and legal consequences from injury or property damage incurred by others. Just being given
a license number on a business card, proposal or contract, does not mean the license is valid. Before
you sign anything, call the Contractors State License Board at 1-800-321-CSLB to make sure
the contractor is properly licensed for the type of work to be performed and that the license is in
good standing. Any person or company, even a CSLB licensed contractor must have a special consumer affairs license beginning with the letters ACO (Alarm Company Operator)
before doing ANY work on a burglar alarm system or its components.
